The Bureau of Probation and Parole officers ensure that sex offenders are assessed using specific sex offender risk assessment tools, subject to specialized conditions of probation or parole, and given specific restrictions while on supervision. In each District, any offender convicted of an offense that has a sexual component is supervised under the Sex Offender Agreement of Supervision. This type of supervision is mandatory regardless if the offense is registerable under state law or the Court has ordered that the offender does not have to register.
